Backing up your settings

As of version 1.2.3, SMTPing doesn't come with a backup utility, but here's how you can manually backup data files.

Important: this procedure applies to SMTPing using SQLite. If you decide to go over MySQL using an existing server, you'll have to manually dump the MySQL database in order to back it up.

1. Open a Windows Explorer window and go to SMTPing's application data folder:

On Windows Vista and up: C:\ProgramData\LAVA SoftWorks\SMTPing

On Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\LAVA SoftWorks\SMTPing

2. From that directory, there are three files to backup:

The historic database: SMTPing.sqlite2db

The configuration file: www\config.xml

The license file: www\etc\license.dat

3. That's all! If you uninstall and reinstall SMTPing, just restore those files to the specified locations.

Note 1: those three files aren't replaced when updating SMTPing.
Note 2: the GOTD release doesn't have the license file. That's hardcoded.
